It's not like the big developers always do a good job with achievements either, though. Both TMNT and Avatar could be accused of abusing achievements to get sales.

I have no problem with the $10 pass concept, and I am an official cheapassgamer. Smart shopping (and patience) makes it easy to get new games cheap. For instance, EA (who I believe created the pass concept, or at least instituted it first) regularly has huge sales on their webstore. So I have no sympathy for people…

You also don't see Ford offering a factory warranty on them. This is the same concept as a "certified pre-owned" car bought from the company dealership, you pay more than the basic used price but still probably less than new (unless you're a really bad shopper) in order to get the benefits of buying new.
