Thats not true. They've got a decent amount of cash in their reserve. Sales are strong and product is competitive. Even with all the recalls, they still made a profit last quarter. Nice try though.
GM was a hulking behemoth on the cusp of bankruptcy doing everything in its power to stay afloat. Its no surprise things fell through the cracks or were forgotten about when it was such a struggle to keep the lights on.
Thats ridiculous.
And i'll second the claim that its a decent entry in the subcompact segment and i'll add that its more reliable than the Fiesta with its many transmission issue's.
The 2008 through 2010 Cobalts didn't have the ignition/airbag deployment problem, they just got recalled because GM is covering its own butt.
The standard side airbags are a convincing argument for the Cobalt.
Hopefully Ms. Bara changes all that then.
I wouldn't play the market if I were you. Bias doesn't help when predicting the future of companies.
Im not defending GM. I just know theres more to this story than an evil corporation only out to save a buck.
Incompetence? I dunno...
Its not that simple. General Motors knew there was a problem with the ignition and they knew there was a problem with airbag deployment. They didnt figure out both were related. Because they didnt know the problems were related, they couldn't find a fix. Atleast that how I understand it.
Read my above reply post to Rust-y, wont change your mind but might help put things in perspective.
Chrysler wasn't liquidated. It was sold, big difference. And no, there would be a massive gaping hole that would cause ruin to the united states manufacturing industry. Millions of people would become unemployed as a result, no one would be buying cars. Investors would be fleeing. Foreign auto manufacturers would…
If GM was liquidated, Chrysler would have followed since that means the government decided against bailing out the auto industry. The businesses that manufacture the parts to make the cars would go under since they just lost 2 of their biggest contracts. Price of parts sky rocket, Ford goes under because of it. Whose…
I drive a Honda and havent owned a GM product since 2007. They put a stop sale on a new model to fix a problem, they did nothing wrong.
Their entire lineup is pretty decent except for the Malibu.
You sure your anti GM bias isn't coloring your view of the situation.
SAAB and Isuzu
Whats shitty about this? Their being responsible.
