It's kind of a cheat, since the cars in question are neither sedan nor officially a hatch, but I've always thought the coupe versions of the Z3 and Z4 were incredibly awkward looking. A bit cool, but awkward as hell.

Yes, but since it surfaced more recently, it's the more recent cause for calls for Clarkson's dismissal.
The current calls for Clarkson's dismissal (it's hard to keep track of them all) stem from him using a racist term for Vietnamese people while filming Top Gear's Vietnamese special.
I actually really liked the Superleggera Roadster, and I thought it was a far more attractive, appealing design than the current compromised Mini Roadster, a car for when you want a Mini Cooper but don't care for all that silly practicality that comes with it.

"Penelope thought he was dead and was thus forced to beat off unwanted suitors. "
For some reason, I can't shake the notion that this car is somehow...dowdy. It just looks so...I don't know....grown up and not as much fun as a 320hp AWD convertible should look.
What I want to know is whether we can expect a narrow torque band, located high in the rev-range, like older Miatas have. For all the talk of how fun it is to wind up the engine, I'd much prefer to have some pull down low.
It's almost like absolutely anything anyone ever does is guaranteed to send some corner of the internet into a tizzy.
God, that's lovely.
Honestly, the relatively sparse convenience options in the NC was one of the things that steered me away from the Miata. That and the fact that I didn't like the looks. Or the lack of low-end torque. Or the cramped cabin. Or the mileage.
I think railing against the idea of a "chick car" is akin to men being upset with their totes/satchels/bags being called purses. instead of fighting it, embrace it.
There's nothing wrong with these sorts of things. Sure, sell a stripped down track day model for people who want that (if there are enough of them to warrant it), but for a daily driver, this stuff is great.
I think it's lovely. Possibly even prettier than the NB, which is the only overtly pretty Miata heretofore.
I only beat the average by a few hundred, but it was a BTO car, so I don't feel too bad about it.
The only real problem with the Miata, compared to the other roadsters that have come and gone over the years, is that by being so successful and lasting so long, the roads are overflowing with them. A car can't feel both special *and* quotidian.
David Metherman.
Like pretty much every VW introduced in the last decade, it's handsome without being interesting.
AWD is great in theory, but in practice, when FWD cars get AWD systems, they tend to still favor their front wheels an awful lot, so you end up with the additional cost, weight and complexity of AWD, without all of the benefits you might hope for.
