I've made it one of my husbandly duties to keep our kitchen knives sharp and ready for action. That way, if I get stabbed, the cut is clean and will heal quicker. ;-)

I prefer to actually build the whole fire before lighting it. That way, I can position all the logswhere I want them while the fire is not going. If you are stacking logs onto a lit fire and are fairly new at it, you are more prone to throwing them on the fire (because you are scared of being burned) and screwing…
