If you're slumping in a chair for a long period of time, you are putting stress on your body, or at least on your spine, which is primarily what posture refers to. I'm not a physician, but that's what I understood from Wiki-ing posture. Whatever, agree to disagree I guess.

A good posture is the posture that puts the least stress on your body. The posture of a person in heels might be alluring for you, but it is putting stress on the wearer's body.

I get that. I don't know if you read Jez when it first started, but it was a good balance of (light) analysis and shared frustrations. Now the posts seem to be all incoherent catharsis, all the time, which is futile, not educational, and just not very interesting to read after a while. Of course, the new commenting

You don't have to agree, but...

Excellent post!

Jezebel, y u no let me upload hilarious image of Cousin Balki? Comment fail.

Did you mean Bronson Pinchot?

This particular situation has nothing to do with religion. It's about power and control.

Pakistanis come in a range of skin colors. There are many white-skinned Pakistanis, especially in the northern regions.

Fuck. I don't have a more articulate response than that.

She's tweeted that she's not Republican but "contrarian." I think that means she's just politically apathetic.

You know what, please do us brown (and non-brown Muslim) ladies a favor and STOP WRITING ABOUT US. I am sick of seeing blogs spreading ignorant bullshit interpretations of studies, and then adding their own ignorant interpretations on top. I feel othered enough already, fucking spend an extra 5 minutes reading the

I completely agree, except that I don't think the original study was necessarily problematic. It seems like Katie spent all of 30 seconds skimming over the original article, because it's pretty clear that the study's authors attributed the results to less interaction between the sexes, NOT what they were wearing. The

Umm Pakistani woman here. I saw hardly any burqas when I was in Karachi recently. Not sure about other areas of the country, but it's definitely not a mandate or even common in Karachi, which is one of the biggest cities in Pakistan. Also, I have NEVER met a Pakistani woman in the U.S. who wears a burqa. Feel free to

Thank you for bringing some sense to the conversation. I'm realizing more and more that a lot of folks in the U.S. seem to think all Muslim women wear burqas or hijabs (and that they are all forced to do so). Ridiculous.

Oh gawd, this psych/marketing prof's entire oeuvre consists of gimmicky interpretations of studies on ovulating women. Apparently, ovulating causes women to see "sexy cads" as "good dads." Ovulating also causes women to buy sexier clothes in order to look better than other women so they can snag a man. Sensationalist,

Poor rich lady.

There are over 3 million Indian-Americans in this country. About 10% of them live in poverty [pewsocialtrends.org], which is low relative to other groups, but my point stands: bash Mindy Kaling all you want, but generalizations about racial/ethnic groups are ignorant.

Thank you! Some of the comments around here are really disturbing. Apparently I didn't get the memo that I should be wearing a sari, dating an Indian guy and only eating tandoori chicken in order to be considered Indian by these lovely people.
