The woman wasn't "stuck with the man's dog." She was supposed to return the dog to his family after the couple broke up but she refused. She then sold it instead, keeping the money for herself.

I find it amusing that the girlfriend sold the dog and yet everyone acts like the buyers are the sole assholes here. I see not even one disparaging remark about her in the article.
