Haven’t seen it since probably 2003, but it was sincerely one of my favorite movies of 1999. Though I feel like this was supposed to be a “raver culture has arrived in the mainstream” moment and it never really did.

No, I don’t expect her to wholeheartedly condemn her country. But her statement was almost worse than nothing at all. And I really don’t think it’s a coincidence that she won’t say “Palestinians.” It’s not uncommon to hear hardline Israel defenders justify anything with “there’s never been a Palestinian people”

I still have memories of shitty things from junior high that I carry with me.

I think that image above is actually the Cahnhassen Cinema, not Paisley Park. They’re not very far from each other and the movie theater does have that really cool Prince mural on the side and I saw Mad Max Fury Road there on opening weekend.

This was enjoyable to read, but I was really looking forward to some breakdown of the time he played Stephen Montgomery, a literal God.

Can’t wait for April 25 so I can finally see the live action Irish remake of Bee Movie.

The first “sheeeeeeeeeit” in 25th Hour is both hilarious and terrifying. America’s greatest character actor.

Do centrists believe in anything except their own power? Why wouldn’t you stay on if you actually cared about helping Dems in your state?

I was reading it in Dear Prudence and thought “if this were Dan Savage’s column, he’d probably respond with ‘actually, this is good BECAUSE they’re cousins’ or something.”

I thought it was pretty straightforward as well. Doesn’t make up for the other issues with that movie and certainly not his shitty behavior, but at no point did I think “Natasha’s a monster because she’s childless.”

Did anyone ever credit Sorkin with being a “great feminist” or whatever? Even people who liked his work have acknowledged he’s not great writing women.

He’s also estranged from the rest of his family and nobody will say why.

Is Shailene Woodley still touting the health benefits of eating clay? If so, has she introduced it to Aaron Rodgers?

It’s not one of his more talked about movies (it’s truly awful,) but he had one that came out in the early aughts called Hollywood Ending where circa-2002 Debra Messing, Tea Leoni and Tiffany Amber Thiessen were all absolutely head over heels for circa-2002 Woody Allen. Technically, only the first two were in love

The comment about “Woody Allen the steamroller” (as opposed to the public image of Allen as a neurotic) reminds me of how Orson Welles absolutely pegged him for what he always was decades ago.

Well let this be a lesson to me. I naturally assume that most gross modern churches start in America and export their shit elsewhere, so I was unaware of where it actually came from.

Holy shit, Hillsong made it to your corner of the world? That truly, truly sucks.

People who are against any sort of student debt forgiveness (who largely, but not entirely vote Republican) will hate him for even talking about student debt relief, regardless of whether or not it comes to pass.

This is true, the irony being I think Greenwald and Maher actually hate each other. Maybe because they’re the two smuggest assholes on Earth.

I think all of the people mentioned in this story were actually Tulsi Bros (Tulsi Tots? Did they have a name?) Dore in particular thought Bernie Sanders was a sellout cuck to IDpol or whatever this last time around. And really, the less said about Michael Tracey’s thoughts on Tulsi, the better.
