This was great to read. Beards are truly a land of contrasts. You have absolute control over whether or not you have one (unless you either can’t grow one or can’t avoid growing one,) how neat it looks (for like two days until every hair just decides to start sticking out whichever way it pleases,) what color it is…

In my experience, once you get it really grown out that first time, it comes back a lot quicker after you shave. It may be taking a long time now, but once you have a beard, you can shave it clean and within a week or two, you’ll be where you probably are now.
