Disagree. Those awful little shitboxes sucked all entertainment out of driving.

“Fun”. I do not think this word means what you think it means.

Imperial gallons are larger than US gallons, so imperial MPG will be significantly higher than the US mpg of an identical vehicle.

VW isn’t the first company to get caught, the EPA fined multiple diesel truck and engine manufacturers a billion dollars for doing this back in 1998 or so.

What are you talking about? There's plenty of real world emissions testing equipment in use right now. How do you think this problem was found?

VW has currently prohibited their dealers from selling affected used diesel vws in their inventory.

Because when you intentionally cheat on nearly half a million cars for six years, the EPA doesn’t (and shouldn't) trust you.

“Here’s how to get a great deal on a gross polluter that nobody’s figured out how to fix yet, and by the way, the fix will be the cheapest way to bring the car into compliance, reliability/power/mileage be damned.”

Exactly.

The 480,000 2.0 VW TDI engines affected in the US don’t have a urea injection system.

IMHO, the U.S. market for a luxury Mercedes pickup is pretty small. As noted, contractors aren’t going to want it, private buyers are already well served by the existing big 3’s luxury offerings and I think many would-be buyers will be put off by mercedes’ high complexity and often-astronomical maintenance and repair

Speaking for myself, I put nav and satellite radio in my car because Waze and Spotify only work the way I want them to when I have a decent cellular signal - which is often not the case. I only use the car nav occasionally, but there’s no convenient substitute when I do.

Truth. Sometimes buying brand new and financing is by far the cheapest way to buy and own a vehicle. I bought a new 2005 dodge diesel truck that year, for $32k (40k sticker). Zero percent financing for 3 years and part of the $8,000 discount was $1,000 for taking the zero percent Chrysler Financial loan, which helped

Yup. Big diesel pickups (except 6.0 power strokes, ha) hold their values remarkably well.

KBB is based on dealer retail asking prices, not actual transaction prices.

Yup. I think ol’ Grab Paddle is pretty young, and maybe not so hot at math.

Yup. People don’t realize that KBB is based on dealer asking prices, not actual retail sale prices. The saying at several of the dealerships I worked at was “buy at Galves (black book, not easily available to the public) sell at KBB”.

What if Copperfield changed the flight attendant into a Vitamix? What do you have against Vitamixes, DeMuro? I'm complaining about this on Yelp, just you wait!

Not as often as you might think- 8k to 10k intervals on a ‘13 Fit, which specs mineral oil and holds 4 quarts, same as the older civics.

Garaged in San Diego, adult driven. There you go. There is no weather in San Diego to speak of, and as long as you keep it out of the sun and away from the salt spray of the ocean that car will exist in a time capsule in perpetuity.
