But football is inherently risky. Guys get hurt all the time in practice, and Beckham’s injury in particular could happen without any contact. Should these guys never practice, either?

If you’re a good driver, you don’t need to hear a horn because no one who deserves to be acknowledged will ever honk at you.

They were not “willing” to pay him $14.5M. None of that money was guaranteed and SF told him that he was going to be cut if he did not opt out.

“Dixon would receive $500,000 in compensatory damages and $300,000 in punitive damages.”

Is there any other country that not only permits but actually has substantial governmental support for monuments to people who literally took up arms against their country?

Cancer you have the luxury of waiting to see if it develops. The reason I’d off myself after a nuclear attack is that I don’t see any scenario where I’d want to live in the world that we’d be left with. Shit, half of Republicans already think it’d be just dandy to let Trump suspend the 2020 election, and we’re not in

I had to look up MLS salaries because I didn’t know what they made. There are only 28 guys earning more than a million a year. I have even less of an idea of what the “notoriously poorly-paying Spanish league” pays, but if MLS offers significantly more, my conclusion is that Haisley is shitting on players who are not

What other alternative is there for the Jets? Sign enough overpriced free agents to eke out 6 or 7 wins a year and never win a Super Bowl, yet never have a top draft pick either?

I think he’ll pretty much have to get a half-billion dollar contract. Now, as to whether it’s a good investment...I wouldn’t be so sure that 29-year-old Trout will be entering his prime. It seems like baseball players are peaking earlier now, and if somebody signs him to a 10-year contract they’re probably getting at

“although, to be fair, Goff could still theoretically turn out to be halfway decent”

I’m getting so tired of hearing that Pace will get a chance to hire a coach as if that did not already happen with Fox. Yes, Fox was kind of forced on him, but it was ultimately his decision. Bowing to pressure from ownership doesn’t absolve him of responsibility for the hire.

I don’t know enough to say if the under is a good bet or not, but I don’t think it’s as obvious as it initially seems. It’s not that hard to go 5-11 in the NFL. If a couple of opposing starting QBs are knocked out, and/or if McCown plays well in a small sample size, it’s quite possible.

Do you not see that there is a difference between a victim trying to excuse her abuser’s actions, and a woman insisting that she was never abused in the first place?

As someone without any kids, I don’t need or want this. At a minimum it had better be possible to disable it, but even then I’m paying something extra for something that is less than useless for me.

If you’re so sleep deprived that forgetting you have a kid with you seems reasonable, maybe I don’t want you sharing the road with me in the first place.

I work in a place with a casual dress code, but shorts are one of the few prohibited items. It could be a whole lot worse, but I still miss shorts.

I guess it depends on where you work. In a previous job, I worked with a former software developer who showed up every day of the summer in t-shirts and cargo shorts. He was the manager of our high-profile team and interacted quite a bit with the CEO...in a company that’s run like a meritocracy, it’s the skills you

Yup. We bought a new 2016 Corolla in 2015. The dealer had a comparable 2015 with 9,000 miles priced at $500 less than we paid for our new one. Granted, I don’t know what they actually got for the 2015, but even if the gap ended up being $2,000 I’m taking the new one every time.

Yup. Someone that financially unstable has no business buying a $21,000 truck, period. I am very empathetic towards the need to own a vehicle in large areas of the country in order to get to and from work. But getting to and from work doesn’t require a truck, and it doesn’t require a $21k truck especially.

Even if he had no savings and no option but to take out a 25% loan, he still could have cut his payment drastically by opting for a much cheaper car. He still would have ended up paying way more than the car was worth, but he might have been able to keep up with the payments.
