Law enforcement was aware of the allegations against Sandusky at least as early as 1998, yet nothing happened until 2011.

I do think that Penn State deserves every bit of criticism they’ve gotten, but I think the media silence regarding law enforcement and how they dropped the ball on this is baffling. From the very beginning, it was clear that some of the allegations were investigated by law enforcement, and nothing happened to Samdusky

The original comment on this thread referred to a prospective employee expecting 8 weeks of vacation right of that bat, so that’s where I got that number. I wouldn’t try to argue that many millennials are asking for that much, but that’s what I was responding too.

I never shop at Walmart but I have noticed that the chip verification takes at least ten seconds at Target. I didn’t realize that it varied by retailer.

There’s a huge difference between wanting vacation time, and having outsized expectations of how much and when you can take it. It’s always been my understanding that taking significant time off in the first few months at a new job is a privilege, not something to be demanded. And companies seem to have shifted

This is one of the reasons athletes should never be begrudged for trying to get as much money as they can while they still can

No manager is going to let their ace go out there and fire 150 pitches across the plate anymore, which means that a pitcher who wants to go for 20 is going to have to do it with a ridiculous combination of command and stuff.

It’s weird because I have had multiple people who are parents ask me why I wanted a dog because it’s so much work. Really? He has to go out 3-4 times a day, get at least one decent walk to burn off some energy, be fed, and that’s about it on a daily basis. Trips to the dog park on the weekend are fun so I don’t count

Nothing in this world is more infuriating than an incessantly barking dog.

For some people, it’s because it’s literally the only way to see the game. Take baseball. I think MLB.tv is awesome because I live in the Brewers market and want to watch the Chicago teams. Thing is, the way MLB defines markets, there are lots of people who considered in-market but cannot get the local broadcast even

Yeah, that’s what I think too. Also, I think a big part of the reason you can’t get a decent running car for under a grand is simple inflation. $1000 is less money in relative terms than it was 5, 10, 15 years ago.

This doesn’t change the fact that he had no leverage, but the Eagles just traded a bunch of picks to move up and draft a guy second overall. Bradford would have to have a historically great season (or Wentz would have to not be ready) to keep starting into 2017 and there is no way they’d keep him after that anyway.

The problem for Honda is that for that to happen they’d have to overcome the fact that many pickup truck buyers are about image rather than function. I work in an office with people who drive full-size pickups for the four-wheel-drive (as if you can’t get that in a car), for “hauling” (a couch or a dresser every

So the only way to be an adult is to reproduce? That seems like an awfully myopic worldview.

It’s not Joe Maddon’s job to make the game interesting; his job is to win games.

I ... am more focused on keeping the kids happy while trying to fix everything that breaks around the house.

I’m conflicted about him because I don’t know how I feel about people like him being allowed in the league. On one hand, domestic violence is a serious crime and even one instance of it goes a long way towards forming my opinion of someone. It’s way worse than if he had an assault conviction stemming from a bar fight

Yeah...while I certainly agree that there are too many sexist guys in the workplace, sometimes it does boil down to laziness and being bad at one’s job. I don’t feel like I get treated better than my female colleagues in that respect.

It could be phrased less dismissively, but I can 100% believe that a lot of doctors don’t prepare expectant mothers for what might happen.

Jesus, he even looks like an illiterate hillbilly tow truck driver whose parents were related.
