I understand where he’s coming from, again Starfield is a perfect example.
I understand where he’s coming from, again Starfield is a perfect example.
I understand the hefty work required to craft “Interesting Event In The Middle Of Open World Traversal” but the problem is all of them all feel so forced and random. The Ubisoft/Ghost of Tsushima style game design where they come up with maybe eight or nine types of activities and then shotgun blast the icons across…
Travel is boring? That’s not true. It’s only an issue because your game is boring
If anything, being thrown “A Wild Random Event Appeared!” every 10 meters walked in tall grass will make me want to Fast Travel even more. An annoying open world is so much worse than a boring one.
It’s not that use of fast travel necessarily means the world is boring, but it almost always means that there’s a disconnect between what the player wants to do at that moment and what the developer intends for you to do. Even in an extremely caringly designed world like Elden Ring, there’s still plenty of reason to…
“While riding one, you might find the path blocked by goblins and have no choice but to get off and join the battle. Then as you do, a Griffin might swoop in and destroy the entire cart with one blow, forcing you to walk the rest of the way while cursing its name,”
No matter how many bells and whistles you throw at me, I’m still going to want to get back to certain areas faster than traveling across a vast open landscape will let me.
“12 hours is nothing.”
Of course they used AI to rip off Pokemon, the company that made this game is bottom-feeding trash. Their other game is a dumpster version of TOTK, and the assets didn’t even try to look any different. It’s cheap crap and it sort of makes me sad that people are gobbling it up.
What? Why would anybody expect what was in the trailer to be high-level gameplay and not a wholistic representation of the game? And your Eikon point is silly because the trailers also showed regular fighting, and never made it seem like you would constantly be fighting Eikons, although you do fight Eikons early in…
Hmm I don’t know about all that. I think the author is totally in the right. Every preview or article for this game in pre-release was like “Pokemon with guns”... Pretty much “all” they showed was high level stuff, now that I’ve played it.
You’d think you could look around and see the amount of “clone” games out there, let alone games that have similar characters, and make an educated guess that nothing is going to come from it except a month of content/conversation.
We’ll see, though.
Using American copyright law won’t help much, since Pocket Pair and Nintendo are both in Japan.
One more reason I’ll never play this game, oh well.
Im sorry but Foamstars is not it. It was not enjoyable in the beta I dont see it staying.
It’s bright and flashy in all the wrong ways. Just watched the trailer in the article and I swear it gave a mild headache. Doesn’t help that the character designs are offensively bland. Who workshopped this into existence? Not wishing it to fail, but this seems like a misplaced investment.
True but I feel like people have been like “Steam could shutdown tomorrow” for a long time. Meanwhile my Steam account turns 20 in November.
Sounds like a convenient smokescreen to distract from the fact that Foamstars was recently exposed for using AI art.
I didn't think it was a scam before, but now I kinda wonder a little bit!
Alpha tester here, for clarity, you just had to sign up for it on their website, it wasnt some kind of specially curated alpha for content creators like some people are suggesting
