Far be it from me to let a corporation off the hook for a scummy business practice, it’s definitely shitty of them to squeeze another $30 for a problem they literally just invented and try to reverse-psychology us into thinking it’s a bonus.

odd, seems like the take here is “if you could release it early, why not do it for everyone”.
Dont get what the issue with a 3 day window for people who want to spend for a digital deluxe. Have we reached that level of entitlement where any value added concept that isnt available for everyone is a bad thing?
I am perfectly content to play MyLeague as (or MyNBA or whatever now). That mode is endlessly fun for me as I continue to build and develop teams. The VC laden modes are annoying but they are what they are and that’s fine. I got the anniversary edition because I really wanted to have league pass as well. The deal is…
I only play Franchise in sports titles, so NBA2K still laps the genre in such options, which is why I buy it. It’s wild you can Franchise with multiple decades of past league history when no other sports sim is even approaching that kind of dedication.
Will you keep your mouth shut! I don’t need MyEra to riddled with microtransactions in future editions.
The discourse around Starfield is so fucking weird from Kotaku/RPS/Polygon. It’s about more than just this game, clearly.
It’s the same knee-jerk cycle every time. Ubisoft makes 15 copy-paste games a year and it’s all shrugs and murmurs from the peanut gallery, but Bethesda takes the better part of a decade to make a true open-world sandbox and they get absolutely blasted for it by the commentariat. It’s not a perfect game but I really…
Some people like to suffer and some people like to watch other people suffering.
Ambitious isn’t the same as successfully ambitious. This game is as ambitious as hell. A thousand explorable planets! WOO!
Execution: YMMV
I noticed when Kotaku has a strong opinion of something, a lot of their content becomes super slanted to support it. For example, these ‘as told by steam’ are usually funny jabs and silly jokes. I would have expected more of ‘x happened and the physics went ha ha’ and less steam reviews that are just quoting an actual…
Given the vastness of the game (I’m only about 10 hours in or so), the fact that there exists a ton of potential in terms of DLC and additional content for a game this expansive seems to be lost on a lot of folks.
Curious how many people hate Starfield simply for being a Bethesda game. Nobody bats an eye when Blizzard, or EA, or Naughty Dog, or Bioware, or almost every other developer on the planet creates derivative content, but Bethesda gets raked over the coals for it. Why is that?
So the trend on the reviews seems to be negative with little gametime and more positive as the game goes on. I’m about 9 hours in on a Series X and I am shocked at how quickly the game loads on it. Going between areas is almost instant and other than docking or takeoff animations I load in right away in space
People complain about not walking seamlessly around whole planets. Then people complain about not being able to walk around the planet regions fast enough. Ok.
The game is at its core a typical Bethesda RPG but the more I play it the more I think they’ve improved the gameplay mechanics substantially. The combat and lock picking feel like a completely different experience. The settlement building is easier than FO4. The physics are also massively improved and even more…
I mean, the main point of the matter is that most games revolve around the player or player party. It’s awfully hard to write a compelling narrative when the story happens regardless of whether the player is involved or not. Players are the chosen heroes because that’s the most exciting spot to be in and it offers the…
Bethesda is being lambasted here for putting out simulation RPGs (which nobody else in the industry really does mind you) while Larian is being heralded everywhere as a savior of video games for putting out a CRPG, a style of game that was well established even before Bethesda started making their RPGs almost 30 years…
