Having played Omega Ruby, got to say that it doesn’t feel great to play in the same way hg/ss was. It weirdly felt too much like x and y. 

I think Game loop wise Gamefreak is happy. You battle. You collect. It’s everything else that seems to be the issue. 

Shield is maybe my 3rd or 4th favorite of the series.

2k has actually never made an attempt to get sole access to the license like EA did with madden. EA has canceled more than a few games while 2k remains king of the mountain without the need to sabotage the competition.
