I think pattern locks are even worse as there are fewer unique possibilities. I'm basing this on the 3x3 grid that Android lock screens typically have.

I haven't tried the Windows version, but Tomboy is good if you just want to be able to jot things down at a moment's notice. I don't know if you can pin them to your desktop or anything though.
