Yes it is.  If I put “all orders subject to a $20 surcharge” at the very bottom of a menu in tiny print, you can bet your ass I’d be sued almost immediately for false advertising.  The amount doesn’t matter.

if you can’t be profitable enough to pay your employees: raise your prices or go out of business. don’t hide behind a fake tax buried in the fine print.

I have, actually - it’s pretty good!  Perhaps my wording was too strong, but my basic point is that if you’re alright spending $250 on a shot, the $50 tip shouldn’t be where your “frugality” kicks in.

Often with very rare whiskies (scotch, bourbon, or otherwise) you’re not going to be able to just go to a store and purchase it. Stores often have lotteries for customers just to get a *chance* to purchase a rare whskey at retail price— that is, assuming the store isn’t just hoarding its bottles for its best customers…

So you’re just going to ignore his explanation that the scotch is a celebration of a milestone birthday and instead is about chasing clout, huh?

I have no interest in a burger without cheese.
