As the AP notes, the decision to vacate following such a significant trial may make other prosecutors wary of pursuing similar cases.

Castor claims his decision was because he was sure he couldn’t get a conviction based on the evidence, so a non-prosecution agreement allowed a civil trial to go forward and force Cosby to testify. Given that his decision was pre Me-Too, he might have been right about that.

On another site, they made it sound like in exchange for Cosby’s testimony in Constand’s civil suit, where she was awarded over 3M, he would not be criminally prosecuted. While I think this is BS, if a judge told me if I helped in one legal matter, I would not be prosecuted in another, and than I was, I would go to

Yeah the prosecutors shouldn’t have brought this case, and Cosby never should have been given immunity in the first place. But he was, so here we are.

It’s called the fifth amendment. If the prosecutor say he won’t prosecute if you testify to a crime you committed, then changes his mind that is them tricking you out of your fifth amendment rights. It is a very big deal, and a fundamental part of our nation that you cannot be forced to give testimony against

This case is hard, because Cosby sucks so much. But ask yourself this- if a DA made a deal with a low level drug offender saying “if you testify in this other case, we won’t prosecute you for your drug case” and then a year later, that DA left and a new one stepped in and said “Well, that deal was with the other DA,

It was not a benefit to Cosby- it was a benefit to his accuser. Without the promise of no prosecution, Cosby could have plead the fifth on all questions asked, and his accuser wouldn’t have won her civil suit. By removing threat of prosecution, it removed his ability to plead the fifth.

It was an unconscionable agreement that should never have been made in the first place.

He is. And fuck Cosby. However, predominantly fuck the prosecutor that created this constitutional issue.

There’s two places for anger to go here: Bill Cosby, obviously, because of his sexual assault, and the DA who lied and said he wasn’t going to bring a suit against him. This is not the PA Supreme Court’s fault. No matter how obviously guilty someone is, you can’t set a precedent that it’s ok to revoke someone’s fifth

Shitty outcome. But it’s not a procedural technicality.

As aggrivating as it is, the SC made the right decision. The DAs fucked up royally.

I feel like this article overlooks the most important and depressing thing here.

I say this both as a 90's kid whose favorite athlete ever is Scottie Pippen, and as a white man who takes accusations of racism very seriously:

Her mama is a liar and a scammer. This was all exposed immediately? Like really this is the story y’all are telling? The court docs are out there. I can’t say I’m surprised.

I was under the impression that Latinx was largely rejected by the Spanish speaking community and considered disrespectful and offensive. Did that change or are we all just sort of ignoring it?

What a stupid fucking comment, when the best player in history is black. Osaka’s level is in line with most of the rest of the top 20 in the women’s game. The issue with that tour is that they’re all inconsistent, which is why you see a new slam champion every other tournament.

Okay, I’ll bite. Out of a cast of four leads: 1 lead, or 25% of the main cast, is a dark-skinned black man (Corey Hawkins). He’s not Latinx - but this is still a film where non-light-skinned, black folks are represented. 1 lead, or another 25%, identifies as Afro-Latinx (Leslie Grace), and is Dominican. Yes, she is

Leaving to join some All-Star superteam because dropping 50 points (w/ no D) doesn’t automatically win a Ring, is some BS. It’s what’s ruining the NBA, not a virtue.

Latinx” has not caused me or the other Latinos in my family to stop voting for Democrats. But the term is obnoxious, grating, and I can definitely see it turning some people off, so much so that they may not even want to hear what you’re saying as soon as “Latinx” leaves your lips.
