Which.....I mean I get the concept and think we should all work towards either prison abolition or at the very least a more rehabilitative carceral state but....holding witnesses in contempt is a core concept of the American Justice System and by no means where I’d want to start full scale reform

I’ve always had some quibbles with that as a blanket pronouncement-- I’d agree that Solitary Confinement can be torture (especially if used for an extended duration) but at the same time it can also be done for safety reasons (though “Protective Custody” can be abused in much the same way classification can be abused

Yes and No. Yes- in that it’s a dynamic race and he’s a better position than almost anyone outside of Biden and maybe Sanders and/or Warren. No— in that he hasn’t shown any significant ability to widen his demographic appeal beyond white, college-educated voters (this is also Warren’s problem, to a lesser extent).

And to add another caveat— this poll (and others) break pretty sharply with the early state (IA/NH) trends where Buttigieg seems to still be gaining (or holding) support.

Fair. But if we’re going to go there none of this stuff has really mattered since Biden has a steady 8 to 10 point lead on a musical chair assortment of 2nd and 3rd place contenders.

If only Mike Pence could determine what M4A covers surely we’d all be better off.

Because of the structure of our system both state-federal and intrafederal (Leg-Exec-Judi)- incrementalism is the most effective way to achieve actual change in most areas- Reproductive Health Care may very well be an exception to this but in general it’s how you achieve change in the American context.

A literal American Hero. With exception of Presidents the only person I’ve met in politics who instantly commanded the attention of a room regardless of the political/ideological makeup of the room, the respect the man receives is hard to describe.

That Murkowski won a re-election via write-in after being primaried is just objectively impressive regardless of what one feels about her positions

Good point, surely M4A will cover abortion and contraception when it's administered by President Hawley in 2029

This sort of policy change on existing, enacted federal policy is a serious potential downside to shifting to M4A.

Also... Coffee... The smell of Coffee is what let’s him feel like he’s not in West Africa anymore?

It’s worse than that-- she welcomed those donations to her Senate race, and is using that money help fund her “pure” Presidential Campaign.

Bernie voted for that bill.

Every minute she’s on the campaign trail she isn’t hucking staplers at her Senate staff.

But isn’t that just it-- she took big donor money in her Senate race and she’s transferred Senate race funds to her Presidential campaign.

Also— I mean come the fuck on— you’re telling me her friends from the Harvard Law faculty aren’t rich?!

The Senate Campaign finance stuff is something that someone is going to hit Bernie on hard (specifically putting his wife not just on the payroll but in a position where she got % of media buys)— I think it’s one of the reasons he doesn’t touch the Ukraine BS the way he did the Clinton paid speeches

Buttigieg’s issue— and almost certainly why he’s running for President- is that he’s basically hit his ceiling for moving up the ladder unless he’s willing to carpetbag to another state. He can’t even really run for House- his district is more than R +5, an openly gay man (or at least one who isn’t a Republican)

The thing with Joe is that there’s so much banked goodwill (especially among older African-American voters but also among older Dem voters in general) as well as this almost subconscious belief that but for his son’s death he’d have run and won in 2016. Also, honestly, the base of the party is far, far more moderate
