Wouldn’t the Deep South be an even better example of the faults of monoparty rule? California has had Republican Governors far more recently than say Texas, Mississippi or Alabama have had Democratic ones.

It’s kind of weird but College and NFL hotbeds don’t really overlap with the exception of Texas and Ohio- the places that love the NFL lack really great college programs and the places that love college football either lack NFL teams or got them at a relatively late date. 

I mean— there’s a great long form article to be written about how outside of Texas and I guess Ohio (two states which follow all levels of football to obsessive degrees from Pop Warner onward), NFL fandom and College Football fandom are basically maps of early industrialization and college football success.

It is hard to imagine a NY team falling in love with a mediocre QB simply because he happened to win a Super Bowl after getting insanely hot in the playoffs..........
