First President to flee abroad to avoid prosecution?
First President to flee abroad to avoid prosecution?
I was surprised by how much value was added by the inclusion of the assortment of moderate white guys-- I wasn’t won over by any of them by any means but by pushing back from the center they forced my preferred candidates to actually live test responses that will be needed in a General Election campaign.
The two biggest issues I have with the elimination of private insurance is that it will (yet again) fuck union members (especially dumb at a time when we really can’t afford alienate rust belt union folks) who have for decades have fought for Cadillac plans substantially better than what is proposed under Medicare for…
It’s not like anyone stopped Castro from running for Senate he (or his brother) waa (were) the clear first option in 2018- Beto’s the only one who ran
Land doesn't vote peole do... Moron
This is just as stupid as the “if only the Soccer was the #1 sport in the US the USMNT would be global power” takes
Crime Bill only works for some candidates- Sanders hitting him on it leaves him wide open for a shot on the same by the rest of the field (also watch Biden’s response- if he doesn't mention the bill having the support of the CBC he's too far gone to have shot)
This. I have more confidence in Biden showing well in this format than either Warren or Sanders.
I really think people are forgetting this is something Biden has done and done well with significantly higher stakes 2012-- Warren I could see giving him trouble, Sanders is lucky it's not a 1 v 1 debate.
Harris has started this.... maybe (it's still really early).
The shift in African-American endorsers could definitely be hinting at that (the shift could.....could mirror a similar Clinton to Obama shift in 2008).
Goddamn. I mean I usually detest the hyperbole around Twitter burns but goddamn, that’s brutal.
True but torture and human rights abuses are one of the areas where Republican empathy* kicked in, I think there’s a decent chance this is an issue he’d have kicked up a mess over.
Same. I have friends and family who complain about absurd rents and other costs but then whenever they look at alternative areas of the country, well.......While $60,000 in Kansas City may go as far as 85 or 90,000 in San Francisco (or whatever)- fixed costs don’t scale with location, it’s not like your car loan or…
The area where the MO/KS issue in Kansas City is going to get really interesting is abortion access—especially if the Missouri government keeps going down the route it seems hell bent on pursuing.
There’s a bit of a difference from literally crossing the street to take advantage of tax incentives and relocating even 10-15 miles-- especially when the KC metro has always been set up to enable these kinds of moves (because they had to even before tax incentives-- it’d be absurd otherwise given that it’s a major US…
This. The KC metro is a unique example that’s not really transferable simply because it was so easy to point out the absurdity of the incentives-- if those business were instead moving 200 miles-- well, it’s a lot harder for pols of both parties to stand up to the “Jobs” argument.
I mean it’s complex but it’s worth noting that an inability to raise property taxes is a huge part of why the cost of living in California is so high. The biggest factor however is clearly the job market itself— which groups like Heritage know as it’s also the reason the cost of living was temporarily absurd in…
Right I could also buy “would gladly move somewhere else if they could make the same salary but lol”
Also- San Fran and San Jose do have legitimate issues with shedding long-term residents, the root of those issues however is that the high-end job market in the area is too good and when combined with among other things shitty zoning policies in SF is effectively creating a massive inflation in cost of living in those…
