I was thinking the same thing as well—there’s a pretty wide gap between I’ve realized my parents are bigoted and they ruin any encounter we have with them/are nothing but toxic.

Ok, you win. I can’t possibly prevail against your special combination of ignorant and childish.

Yeah... I’m the idiot. <eyeroll> #readingisfundamental

Perhaps you misunderstood, when I wrote,

I stand by my translation. Your response makes it is clear you didn’t understand the meaning of the words you used:

Translation: I thought the article was smart and you’re dumb!

I learned this concept related to writing back in the 80s as the “madman, the carpenter, and judge” See here, but not sure where it originated.

I second Peter’s point. Hot glue has a far greater thickness when compressed than wood glue (and you can thin wood glue a smidge if necessary). If you have/want tight joints, this method is going to prevent them. Hot glue will prevent a flush joint unless you use the tiniest amounts (and even then it can we difficult).

I’m curious about two things:

You have a very different definition of constructive than pretty much anyone else, so here’s some help—note the text in bold:

First, thank you for your thoughtful response.

I have a genuine question I would like help understanding where I’m going wrong. The thing that I struggle with is the following from an ethics standpoint:

Me too, was just wondering if he’d include something similar and useful. His response explains why he didn’t though.

You’re right, and I should have mentioned that, but I still think it has to be considered—I was hoping to see some rule of thumb included with the calculation.

Why did you leave out the one thing that seems to trip everyone up and is often used to rationalize buying new? Maintenance and repair costs.

Seems like it might be worth a quick check with the date too—”Hey, I don’t know the material for all of these comics, so we might have to be prepared from some pretty raunchy/whatever stuff. Are you ok with that?” Plus you can always leave if your date raises the white flag. Seems like it would be easier if you
