Great news. Still, for travelers, sometimes there are good reasons not to bring your phone, like if you are traveling to a country where data privacy is suspect, and you worry about your device being hacked.
I just picked up an unlocked global GSM Moto E for $130 on Amazon for an upcoming trip to one of those…
The Logitech ultralight is cheap for a reason - they're flimsy! Just returned mine last week; the hinge broke after being used for only a few days. Switched to their Folio case/keyboard and have been happier.
The trade off, the incumbents will say, is they have a universal service mandate and new entrants don't. Generally I am quite sympathetic to the plight of new entrants but the whole demand-driven build out model is to their advantage.
True fact's — with fiber Internet you can get extra apostrophe's where you don't need them, lightnin'-quick!
Yep, and you can drive out a short trip from St. John's, Newfoundland, and still see the telegraph cable heading under the road (from the old telegraph station that's now a cool museum), along the beach and disappearing into the water. Very cool to check out if you have to be in NFLD.
I grew up in Winter Park. And, yes, it is a great place. And in fact, as I think you're alluding to, it's also every bit as much a commercial construct as Celebration is.
Everything is free now
That's what they say
Everything I ever done
Gonna give it away
Someone's hit the big score
They figured it out
That I'm gonna do it anyway
Even if it doesn't pay
I have recently had a similar idea, but would add in Simple.TV, the start-up that has a neat idea but has executed it horribly.
Yeah, I know Charlie's gone, but Steve Earle's line just seems so much better appropriated when it comes to him, y'know? I just couldn't see doing that to Mayor McFarlane's coffee table!
I'M SORRY, I THINK YOU MEANT TO SAY "DURHAM-RALEIGH."
Interestingly, Charlotte isn't far from a rural area that's getting FTTH. The Burnsville-Spruce Pine area off the Blue Ridge Parkway is in line to get fiber optic connectivity thanks to a $20 million+ Federal stimulus investment. Country Cablevision (I'm not making that up) is the provider, ccvn.com for more info. …
I'm not sure Richard Wrangham needs to worry about Catching Fire — Currier House has been smoke-free since the late 1990s, though there was that fire once in Gilbert Hall when a cigarette was put out in a trash bin....
That's how Dirty Durham (N.C.) roooooolls in the Big Apple!
It's both WNC and the Triangle. I live in Durham and have a cabin in Yancey Co.; I work all day a couple floors above a massive startup incubator, and on weekends, have the Penland School of Crafts and the literally hundred or so studios spun out of it and other folklife programs all around the US 19E corridor — to…
argh, duplicate post, damn you Kinja for make me lookin' all tech-fooleried. "We got us some REEEEAL fine tek-naw-low-gee har' in the Cackalacky state! Woooo doggy!"

I loved Horizons and was sad to see Mission: Space take its place. Ditto some of the other Future World rides, like Wonders of Life and the old GM ride.
I've still got unlimited data (3G, boooo) through VZW on my iPhone 4. If I get a new phone on contract — goodbye unlimited data. I was hoping for a cheap 5c so that I could get LTE and keep my off-contract, unlimited data status. Alas, not so.
This is an "edge case," but you can end up using a VZW femtocell without knowing you are doing so or intending to do so. If you are in an area with little to no VZW coverage, you can automatically be routed to one of these if it is close and strong. You can't "roam" onto one if you are on a call against a Verizon…
