You’re right, “control” was not the right word to use. It’d probably be better to say that when drinking, you lose some of the ability to inhibit words and actions that you would normally not say or do.

That’s more or less what I’m saying. Drinking doesn’t make you mean. It makes you more willing to speak your mind, vent your frustrations, take your anger out, and so on.

I’ve long repeated the old adage that alcohol doesn’t transform people into someone else, it just takes away their ability to censor and control themselves.
