Honestly part of the problem with bringing the book to the big screen will be because so many of its flaws - which are easier to ignore in book form - will be exposed when you're forced to see them come to life. The reality is that the book is every bit as America, Fuck Yeah as the movie, many of the consequences for

I honestly agree with you, and despite having been a big lover of zombies at the time (though I'm pretty burned out on them now, I must say) the book didn't really do anything for me, either. I'm surprised it was as well-received as it was. It's full of the same pandering fantasies of nerd-turned-kick-ass-warrior and

Yeah I'm normally very sympathetic to anti-colonialist sentiment, but in this one case, it's an utter joke.

Sure, but would anyone else besides Argentina? Even the Islanders themselves voted something like 97% in favor of staying with the UK. And Argentina's legal claim can be summed up with "well they're really close to use, so they should be ours." Also, colonialism! (Please disregard our own colonial history.) Which...

I was under the impression that one got settled about 30 years ago.

Damn, you used to be one of the regular commenters I liked most around here. I've lost just about all the respect I ever had for you at this point.

So how many times are you going to keep re-posting that image after people who understand its context explain it to you?

You're being very generous. In my experience, "37" means 52. A vaguely evasive "40s" probably means damn near retired.

I guess humans were in the "apes" category? Fair enough.

Uh-huh. You tried. Goodnight.

Oh, sweetheart. It's okay. You were wrong. You don't have to backpedal and pretend to play the "devil's advocate" now - no one but us will likely ever read this thread. Next time, google is your friend.

"I wasn't wrong about my assertion, I was just trolling! And I don't care about this _so much_ that I'm going to keep responding to every comment! That's how much I don't care!!! At all!"

Yeah that's hilariously believable, given you have the same number of replies to this topic that I do.

A quick glance at the chapter list informs me that both Feast and Dance have equal numbers of Victarion chapters.

I can't be the only one who doesn't really mind if they make changes to the tv episodes that cover the plot of ADWD, right? That was easily the weakest of the books, and there's a lot of room for improvement.

No. Like someone already said, some of them are would-be models/talent. Another reason is that (speaking as someone who's done cosplay in both North America and Japan) bullying in cosplay circles can be absolutely vicious, and unattractive - particularly overweight - girls get the worst of it by far.

Technically Christmas is double time and a half (1.5x your regular wage for working it plus a full day's wage if you don't get another day off in lieu of that one) but only employees are only eligible if:

This is the unintentional hilarity of not using google of Wikipedia for making your argument, friend: auto racing IS considered a sport by the IOC, and permitted to make a bid for an Olympic slot, though it hasn't yet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic_s…

The problem with that line of reasoning, though (as discussed with someone else, above) is that other events (e.g., shooting) don't require more than hand-eye co-ordination, spatial awareness, and reflexes. "Full body co-ordination" isn't something that defines "sport" in the eyes of the IOC.
