The '68 never came with a 289, so if that's accurate, they're not exactly throwing out the original engine. More than likely, it WAS a 6-cylinder car. However, 6-cylinder fastbacks are probably very rare, so either way, someone's going to be pissed.

I'm loving all this Mitsubishi love today! One of my first cars was a midnite blue '87 Galant (had it back in '99) and I've had a soft spot for the brand ever since. I know they've made some bad decisions in the past decade or two, but I would be sad to see them go the ways of Isuzu & Suzuki... I hope they can pull

Straight six is a great engine with perfect primary and secondary balance, smooth power delivery. Only problem is packaging a long, skinny engine, but if you're also designing for V10, it's not a big deal.
