I guess I don't see a ton of percentage in judging workers on their work choices - maybe she's got kids to feed, or big dreams, or is writing a wicked expose - or all of the above.

Hmmm... so you think a photographer talking to a 20-yo model is likely to go, "Put a little more Plath-like pathos into it? Show me how angry you are at Ted Hughes..."
Great point. I'm picturing a roomful of Ford Models looking over the booking sheet, "Good photographer, good client... but ohhhh, the reference to the late Taiwanese author Sanmao makes me uncomfortable. Better pass!"
It obviously doesn't work as a fashion spread - nor do I reckon that was its primary intent - but it kinda works as something.
If you'd read the actual study — or even the abstract — you'd notice:
This isn't my field, so maybe I'm easily impressed... but the relative comparison to gay porn strikes me as as a brilliant line of enquiry. (At least for the open-minded.)
I can't be any more clear than saying "contend". I'm putting it out there as an intuitive hypothesis that may well be trivially easy to reject - particularly by any aspiring scholar in the field - not calling it a source.
Is the 2010 study Bridges et al ("Aggression and Sexual Behavior in Best-Selling Porn Videos")?
The stats in the article come from a search for "rape porn"... not "free porn".
That's a gross datum that needs to be far more widely circulated.
I contend that if you go to the most heavily trafficked free sites, and sort by the most heavily watched videos... what comes up will be almost entirely free of weapons, drugging, incest rape, underage rape or anything else of that ilk.
Infinite difference, pretty much. Great catch.
I would guess VF's subscriber list skews female (and toward rural beauty salons and other addresses not calculated to make high-end advertisers' hearts race).
Fascinating. It certainly looks like his pulse is far from racing.
"Would we consider New York better than Ms., the magazine it helped get off the ground?"
"75% involve guns or knives"
Thanks. I'll give it a closer look - haven't looked through a US issue of Elle in a couple of years. Men's Fitness has gone way downhill of late, while Men's Health was never anywhere to start with.
God forbid anyone should actually take some personal responsibility, right?
Yeah, it's arguably worse than the other pics... if only because it looks like there's not a jot of elevated temper or rage involved.
As I've noted elsewhere. Grace gives out "scholarships" to essentially every admitted student. The term "rebate" might be more accurate - especially since it captures the user-car-dealer nature of the institution.
