Bill, we're just the lastest generation to see this kind of thing happen. Look up how many full-sized race tracks there used to be in the Los-Angeles in the 1950' and 60's (it's heart breaking). Hear some of the stories of how laid back f1 races were. I believe someday (hopefully a long LONG time from now)…

The E30 stands where the 2002 did a number of years ago, close to the best bang you'll get for your buck. I've seen the same thing with 2002's, E9's, Etc. There was a day you couldn't pay someone to haul away your 2000cs, 1600, Isetta, etc.
I'd suggest a 1975 and earlier 2002 ('76 needs smogging in California). I drive my 1971 about 60 miles a day on the 57 and 210.
