Just because it’s a daily driver doesn’t mean you can’t fix it and keep it in decent shape. Especially the interior, where you spend your time when you drive it.
The interior is also in awful shape. I’m guessing it spent most of those 27 years outside, baking in the sun. As nice as the article was, it looks more like an unloved beater than something lovingly maintained by a jalop.
They probably didn’t. Movies on airplanes often have a disclaimer at the beginning that they have been edited for content.
I remember when these were new one of the selling points was that it was the fastest car you could buy for under $10K. The price apparently hasn’t changed, but I bet the speed you can get relative to the price has.
I won several awards at my local autocross many years ago. It probably helped that I was usually the only car in my class.
My point is that Lotus designed and built the original Opel Speedster. That means it’s as much an Opel as the Ion is a Saturn.
The air intake is on the side, right behind the driver’s side door. Hard to make out on a black car in a low resolution video, so here’s a better picture.
Indeed. Both illegal, but not equal. One was clearly worse than the other. He should have just called a tow truck.
That one’s about 30 years late.
You could. My point is that it wasn’t really an Opel, it was a rebadged Lotus. Kind of like how the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Ions were really Opels.
This being Jalopnik, I figured maybe he needed it to clean up an oil spill in the garage.
Pretty sure it’s against the law to block a driveway, so technically they both broke the law.
The last time I did that at night, the car behind me turned out to be a police car. Luckily he didn’t pull me over, just pulled up next to me and gave me the evil eye for a few seconds, then took off again at high speed. I’m guessing he had somewhere better to be.
It looks like he also got revenge on all of the other nearby cars, including the one that was coming from the other direction in the opposite lane.
Or, they could just build the world’s first 4-cylinder turbocharged supercar.
And the previos generation, not avaiable in the us was mid engined lotus competitor
That’s what I suspected, but the Seras in the later pic weren’t next to the Chevette.
That’s what I was thinking, but I wasn’t sure, as the Toyota Seras pictured later weren’t next to the Chevette.
What are the cars next to the Chevette?
