By that argument, Jeremy and Co shouldn’t have called theirs Top Gear after Tiff left and they completely changed the format.

I think people too quick to blame sexism lately. Perhaps you should blame statistics instead...or do you think that dealerships are selling crossovers to women who don’t actually want them?

I saw one in downtown Chicago a few months ago. Looks way better in person at normal street height than it does up on a stand at the auto show. Nobody who knows anything about cars will mistake it for an R8, as people (including me, I admit) have often suggested in the past.

Good point about the fact that they’ve been racing a version of the new car since 2014. I wonder if that slowed down production of the road car at all, or if the new SuperGT cars are too far removed from production for it to have any real relation.

Funny, this is the exact opposite of my experience. Ages ago I once drove my boss’s Suburban to a town 30 minutes away and I found it exhausting. It was so big and heavy, acceleration was painfully slow and stopping was downright frightening. Like most trucks I’ve driven, but not cars (including more than one Civic),

I’m always curious what people are comparing it to when they say it’s slow. Did you drive an automatic? They got a less powerful engine, and less favorable gearing. I think they are part of the reason that the car got a reputation for being slow, a lot of the early reviews were based on the auto which had a high 5

I came here to say this, after Patrick said he’s sure the Z32 was better. I used to drive my boss’s old lightly modified Z31 Turbo, and it was pretty quick (they respond really well to exhaust mods) and fun to drive. I always loved the looks of the Z32, so I was happy when I saw one for sale I could afford, a black 91

I rented one once and thought how it drove was it’s only redeeming feature. Of course, it was an automatic rental car that I drove around town for a few days, so I didn’t drive it all that hard, but it was a lot more fun than your average rental car. Too bad the visibility was awful and there’s effectively no trunk

There was an ASC McLaren earlier this month...

I used to feel this way, but with a “smart” dash, what are you really going to have to change anyway? It basically replaces two things: your radio/nav and your climate controls.

That mass still isn’t going to increase with speed, as the weight of the car will not change.

The starting price has been announced. Whether people will be happy with the $35,000 model or the pricing of higher end models remains to be seen.

While you have a point about frontal area, weight is basically irrelevant to top speed. It does affect how quickly you get there, but once you get past around 60 mph, drag overtakes weight as the dominant force to overcome.

There’s also a reason why the all-aluminum Tesla Model S weighs almost as much as a Cadillac Escalade or Toyota Sequoia.

I’m waiting for someone to splice the two videos together.

My suspicion is that accelerating quickly up to the desired speed and then shifting into a higher gear sooner may result in less overall fuel consumption than accelerating moderately over a longer period of time. In some cars and conditions, anyway.

I hope you were measuring at the pump and not via onboard computer, which estimates with no knowledge of tire size.

1) I had the same thought with the range idea not being useful unless it was tightly controlled. The top end mileage for every car would just end up being the manufacturer cruising at 35mph in top gear on a straight downhill road with no curves whatsoever. Not even hypermilers would manage to get that in the real

I was just car shopping and saw a good deal on a car. Then I saw that it also required me to take over the warranty, making it not such a good deal after all.

In some other car.
