That takes some serious courage, to admit being an umpire.

Fuck, he wants to say more then that.

I'm pretty sure "black people" isn't what he's busting to say.

I think there's another word he'd like to use even more.

you know what I find offensive? 18 year olds getting shot and prosecutors intentionally throwing the case

"MLS needs more of this passion."

You both should and shouldn't give this game a chance.

This is the good kind of dumb.

To be fair, if any country has pounds to spare, it's the US.

Nice Haisley. Steal my post from the Klinsman thread, keep it in pending and make it your own. Sweet job at Deadspin.

no h/t to fomthe20thfloor who pasted this in a previous article?

Significant investment in domestic soccer, let alone investment in "no fee" academies that are often financial losers especially at the onset of said investment, is a very new thing in the US. Only one league has ever managed to even begin that process and that's MLS. Many of the problems Jurgen cites with US soccer

I guess it depends on what kind of "young" we're talking about here. Fredy Montero was 22 when he was signed by Seattle. That's not really young in international soccer terms. He did his academy apprentice work in Colombia years before moving to Seattle. I think the issue at hand here is where 16 year olds are signing

No, because they're not complaining about Bayern setting up an academy in the US, they're annoyed with Klinsmann constantly telling players in their systems, and on their clubs, that a move to Europe would be best, even if it's untenable.

I'm not following you here. Short-circuting MLS academies for the chance that maybe some Scandanavian league team signs you after a U-18 camp isn't what's best for MLS or USSF.

Billy, I've said this before, but you really have no business writing about MLS when you have such an obvious axe to grind against the league. Please stop.

That burger is a delicacy in Cincinnati.

Kauffman Stadium is unaccustomed to serving customers after July, so it's everyone's first go-around at this.

We really need NYCFC to hold an open tryout so Billy can show these hand-me-down players what real soccer is.
