Man, fat guys who haven't been laid this century are about to lay down some fiery hot takes about women and "their place" in this comment section.

I follow you on Twitter and here you are on Deadspin and my separate lives are intersecting and this new world is so strange

I don't think it is subtle at all. No mere reporter, King apparently views himself as some sort of guru-spokesperson for the NFL who merits deference from Cam Newton. The constant name-dropping and jock theocracy that permeates King's reportorial oeuvre reminds me of the nerdy sports centric kid who never got chosen

Mallet also refers (or at least used to) himself in the third person. 'Who got a beer for Ryan Mallet? Who gonna roll the blunt for Ryan Mallet?' Etc etc.

Well I got blocked after I adarn'd ESPN

This tweet got me blocked by David Price, but then he unblocked me and accepted me for the troll that I am.

I would continually do manual RT's on Prisco with stupid filler like "HOT TAKE COMIN' ATCHA" when he would do his asinine understatements like "Billy Donovan is a pretty good coach derp derp derp." Well, he called me an idiot about 15 times, and a number of the DS commentariat would chime in on the thread and he

It always made me uncomfortable when PK said "son" and "boy" in his articles, like "hold onto the rock, son." Beyond the racist undertones, which I know are totally flying over his head, PK's also one of the least macho dudes in the world, so hearing him spout that "I'm one of the guys" shit is kinda sad and

You say "paternalism," I say "subtle racism."

This line of argument is so weird. You are basically saying the other guys are better because their teams are better. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cam's problem is that his teams tend to do worse when he's being asked to do more. And whether that's a fair assessment or not, it's difficult to keep talking about him in the context of those other guys when they've all had so much more success than he's had.

This. Peter King's currency is access. The access he nurtured over the decades is why he has his own brand at SI (i.e. he's not just a reporter, but an entertainer and an icon).

"And whether a guy maturates is between him and his God."

Saw the headline and thought "could it be? Could Peter King have turned the corner and stopped being a Neanderthal?"

How naive of me.

When is the last time you heard someone hype Cam's game nationally? He is the old toy now that Luck, Wilson and Kaep have hit the scene.

Be sure to look him in the eye.

Eh, Peter King loves people who talk to Peter King.

7. Did Peter King actually see Ron Rivera, Chan Gailey and John Harbaugh blanch with his own two eyes? Cos if he didn't, then he just fucking made shit up about a guy he felt he should be knocked down a couple of pegs, which would get you fired in about 20 seconds in a real newsroom and if you did that to someone who

Smart move by Newton (or the Panthers PR guy who suggested it). King has reached that point where he doesn't want to report on sports - he wants to have an effect on them. By appealing to that kind of ego, Newton probably turned him into a fan. Further coverage will be interesting to see.

The whole narrative of Cam's maturation relies on weird assumption that Cam was somehow extremely immature when he got into the league. Apparently Colin Cowherd compared Cam and Ben Rothlisberger today on the radio, not just as on-field players (It is a much better comparison than all the stupid JaMarcus Russel
