2016 continues to impress.
My family has always had what I consider to be an awesome tradition of naming our Christmas tree each year. The name should be funny but also encapsulate something about the year that has just passed; Christmas puns are strongly encouraged to the point of being required.
Gahh. That was the joke. Long week.
You are right and your point is not at all crazy. But, respectfully, it misses mine. Sure there are lots of poor comparisons between office life and a job in the NFL — I’d get arrested if I blindsided my adversary; Sherman would only get a 15-yard penalty. But treating people with respect, praising in public while…
Unimaginably, it’s actually worse than just slashing taxes on rich people. Taxes will actually go up a few ticks for the very poor and some folks in the middle class. Check out this chart (and if someone can figure out how to embed it, would you please do so in reply? I am old and technologically incompetent).
“I believe you would have written this article regardless of who won, and that is to your credit, but I am not sure that many on the left would’ve cared if it applied to HRC.”
Fair enough. I work for an MLS team.
There’s an army of self-serious football broadcasters and pundits that would have you believe a player publicly disagreeing with his coaches is an act of treason, and yet the Seahawks are over here with a cornerback who will argue with his head coach on the sideline, a receiver who will flip off his coordinator from…
Kris, cross.
Here is a required disclaimer to ensure my point is taken seriously and not dismissed as the ravings of some misguided Trump supporter: I voted for Hillary. I was not and am not terribly fond of her, but she was the objectively more qualified candidate and a demonstrably better human being. I don’t vote for…
The Times just published a pretty lukewarm review, too. I guess I am not surprised, but I am pretty sure my seven year-old won’t care, so I am looking forward to seeing it this weekend all the same.
I know what the optimists will say . . . that every cloud has a silver lining . . . but in this case it is a mushroom cloud, and the silver lining is actually U-232 that will kill you and your offspring for generations. Hooray for 2016!
People who place a greater value on a thing I do not value = people who do not place enough value on a thing I do value = people who do not think like me = people who are insane / nuts / crazy.
This is so wonderful.
These numbers are eye-popping and it’s hard not to wonder if hope that (Mets fan) they will regret this deal in a year or two. But the Yankees won on this formula 20 years ago: good starting pitching, guys who hit taters, and a shut down closer. It can’t be lost on Cashman that the retirement of the greatest closer…
This is absolutely shocking. I had no idea the Giants had a fullback.
God damnit you. I am not ready to joke about this yet. My kid’s favorite number is five.
Am I the only one who sees Jay Bruce as an obvious fit for the O’s? The Mets are dying to get rid of him and would probably take next to nothing for him. He can smack 30-35 dongs and DH a bit. And at $13m for next year, the price is right.
Even if he is done for this year, I just hope the Giants and JPP are able to reach a deal on a long-term contract in the offseason. He still has three-fifths of his hand, and there is certainly precedent for that kind of compromise.
