Of course there is SOME correlation, but labor costs are a much lower contribution than all the other issues like supply chain, shipping, etc. To lay it at the feet of the smallest part of it without even mentioning the others is a nice talking point for idiots, nothing more.

We were in NYC the last few days and a fair number of yellow taxis and almost all the Uber/Lyft drivers were using Toyota Sienna minivans.

My dad had a Caravan in the 80s and it had it. The only problem was the sprayers were on the backside of the blades, so the dust just got ground into the windshield without an fluid to lubricate it. As a kid I wondered how any adult engineer could have designed it.

I’m a home inspector and worked pretty much every day during Covid from the beginning. That was the only bright spot. Zero traffic. It was like a zombie movie at times in April 2020. I could go 15 miles down a 6 lane highway and see 3 other cars.

That’s honestly amazing so many people still aren’t wearing seatbelts. What’s wrong with people?

Well, this guy wasn’t the only idot driving around Manhattan at 2:30 that morning. People just casually driving down the middle of lane markings like there’s not other cars on the road (besides the McLaren).

But is it screaming for several seconds when it runs right up on something from behind like multiple autopilot active cars have done? Like trucks, emergency vehicles, etc?

Supposedly the design requirement for these new trucks does account for them to be able to be changed over from gas to battery electric in the future.

There are legitimate reasons to be able to briefly exceed any limit. Getting away from a developing collision or some sort of road rage incident. They may be very rare, but I don’t think they want to be telling anyone sorry, your loved one died in a preventable situation if they could have gone faster for 10 seconds.

Could be a safety thing. Like hey Bud, if you’re merging on the highway right now, you better back off or have someplace to go NOW, because you are not going to be able to pass that darn Peugeot already on the road.

On the face of it, It does sound like they tried not to shoot him and he didn’t give them much choice. On the other hand, if there weren’t so many instances where police were shooting people that didn’t deserve it, it would be a lot easier for people to trust in this case.

LOL, now you’ll feel like every other EV has when waiting at a standard charger while a Tesla is using it instead of a supercharger somewhere.

I think auto start/stop is very dependent on the implementation. We have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with the 2.0 turbo with etorque, which uses a very mild hybrid system with a battery pack and motor/generator off the drive belt. It uses that system to give a boost under around 1500 rpm and for the stop start, so

Exactly. It gives state legislatures a roadmap to start making laws. Honestly, I think that was kind of what they leaked the opinion. It wasn’t democrats trying to get people mad, it was republicans telling states to get their laws ready for day one.

Free market and all that, but they should not have this both ways. If the dealers are going to restrict your ability to sell, then they should be selling at the MSRP without BS add ons. If they want to add a market adjustment and you the buyer can find some sucker who can’t wait and will pay even more, then more power

The episode of the Osborne’s where Ozzy tries to use iDrive has to be one of the funniest “reality TV” moments ever.

I used to be a commercial construction estimator. When you’re bidding on $30 million jobs it’s pretty easy to make a six figure mistake.

It probably set off the fuel injection kill switch and there was no moving it. There is a reset somewhere, for this exact scenario, but most people don’t have any idea about it. https://www.vehiclehistory.com/questions/where-is-the-inertia-switch-location-on-a-ford-f150-138666

Yeah, imagine how surprised the driver was when he hit that truck in the middle of scrolling his Facebook feed.
