BRAAAAAAAAAAAP

Oh, Canada.

I left Newfoundland after university in the early 90s. we have a strong brogue of Irish/English mix. moved as far away as I could in Canada to Vancouver on the other coast. I was always the guy noticed at parties when I was 22 as the ‘Newfie’. I lacked confidence and fucking hated it. I slowed down and almost got rid

Yeah, it’s definitely weird that he’d be ticked about a 1st inning bunt. Some guys get mad when a player bunts when they are up 9-2 in the 8th inning, or something (which is still stupid, but I can kinda understand it). But if a guy’s trying to get on base early in the game with a bunt, I don’t get the anger. I guess

Academia, for all it’s high-minded ideals, is rife with this sort of stereotyping and judgment. I also have a friend who had to adopt a GenAm accent over his native (and extremely thick) WV accent in order to make any inroads on the academic job market.

My parents are from the Missouri Ozarks, and while they didn’t have heavy accents, they did pronounce some words oddly. They both worked on pronunciation when they moved out west, first to Nevada, then California.

I’m going to assume you’re not an asshole and just suggest you really think about what you are saying and whether it is up to your co-workers to modify their behavior because you

For many reasons this is why companies have HR departments...

It’s a grounded concern about being stuck too far from ohm.

Hey, listen we’ve spent generations perpetrating this idea, and you’re not going to just go and screw it up for the rest of us girls in Deutschland. Can’t bake because the period.... period! Cannot do it. We are also working on “Can’t do dishes”
“Can’t reset the wireless router”

This is why rally racing is my favorite (on four wheels, at least). So dynamic! Jumping, drifting, lots and lots of turns. NASCAR and F1 are snoozefests by comparison.

Well, he’s certainly trying.

Slate has been running a “today in conservative media” thing. Not very in depth, but it’s a good heads up without giving those sites ad money.

It’s almost like looking good in a cocktail dress and channeling righteous indignation are not all it takes to have a handle on the issues.

If you were sitting next to me, I’d be joining your Goofy-ness!

Whatever you do, don’t throw your hands in the air, shout “Wheeee,” and try to get people to lean left and right with you.

I thought the sound was excellent, except for the dialogue. I couldn’t understand like 70 percent of what people were saying. I saw it IMAX 70mm and was sitting directly in the middle of the theater.

Me too!

That was my thought, too.
