You can actually do this in DOTA 2 already, friend or not. Someone on your friend list you can just right click their profile in game and Spectate it.

Great cans. Been using them for about 4 to 5 months now. Little small for my ears coming from some Astro A40s (before I broke them) and they took a bit to break in and get used to but nice flat, studio response which I prefer for gaming.
