I think that Bioshock infinite could attribute a large amount to that expectation, and Borderlands 2 could, as well, bring a lot of buck.

Considering how good some of the CGI work was on the models and animations in that trailer I was quite shocked to see how piss poor other things looked, like that fire animation, or how that car blew up...looked downright amateur.
