We did not start wiretapping Americans because of WWII. We did not create "security theater" at all our points of entry because of WWII.

I remember having this very conversation with some friends once while under the influence of an, erm, combustible herbal substance. This is what our think tank concluded:

This is the kind of stuff that goes into Evernote for me. Then I can just call it up on my smartphone if needed, but the data itself is in the cloud in case my phone is lost/stolen/dropped in a toilet.

Regardless of the issues and who wins tomorrow, there is one positive that everyone— regardless of political stripe— can be happy about: the end of the incessant negative political ads during every freaking commercial break!

@simonbarsinister: Don't you know? The choice is always between a turd sandwich and a giant douche...

Hooray, email! Without you, how else would my dad have a way to forward racist missives about how that muslim socialist nazi Obama is "ramming" policies down our throats and represents the greatest tyranny since King George?

@AnotherBob: And, naturally, the next thing to come along will be the "C" log... though some would argue that's Twitter.

@blahyawnblah: Hmmm, there was a point where I had no service (I specifically checked!), and I dragged the map further along the route to see how much was loaded up, and it appeared to be quite a bit. This was up around Santiam Pass. Seemed to work ok!

Anybody with any amount of regular income can lease one and pretend they're some kind of bigshot. Nothing says "douchebag" more than leasing a 3 series when you can't really afford

@valmorphorize: A lot of negative reviews, at least for tech products, are kind of worthless though. There are a lot of idiots out there who love to blame the product for their inability to understand how to use it.

@SlipperyCheese: Protip: please have a job lined up before moving here, or bring work with you. Things are already bad enough employment-wise in this city without more people showing up.

@jeffk: I always thought of my growler as a "to-go" pitcher...

Backed up everything on my fresh new bought-for-Time-Machine external drive with SuperDuper, then did a nuke-and-pave install. Used Migration Assistant to bring in all my apps, files, and settings, then reformatted the external and backed everything up with Time Machine... FTW! Everything seems to work great... though

@sumocat: I'd love to dump Comcast and go with Verizon FiOS (which may in the future start crapping on their customers, but for now seem to be upholding net neutrality). However, in the Portland area where I live, FiOS is only available in the western and southwestern suburbs (Beaverton, Hillsboro, etc.) These are the
