The previous Q7 was a freakin' lard-ass. 700lbs in weight reduction is fantastic, but almost anything in that range would be necessary to get it competitive with the current competition.

I always thought this Q7 was grotesque in every way: super fat with way too many lights, like trying to put sparkling lipstick on a pig. At least the X5 looked taught and clean, and all of Mercedes's current SUVs (the real SUVs) are knock-outs.

That's gotta please the SJWhiners.
That is far from aesthetically pleasing IMO.
It isn't carbon fiber. Here's a couple high-res shots of the chin splitter's different layers:
That photoshopped DLO looks terrible. The S550's current quarter window is perfect IMO.
I'd say you just nailed the answer yourself. The move to sculpted body panels and focusing on the interplay of light and shadows has been the most predominant industry trend as far as styling is concerned. BMW was quick to shift away from the typical stamped lines and graphics-based sheetmetal for something…
That's a highly debatable claim. Audi definitely led, and still remains among the best, when it comes to lighting tech and implementation, but their styling has hardly been innovative or leading by any measure.
New trend? Mercedes has offered a CL (now called S-Class Coupe) for ages. Plus we've had the Bentley CGT and RR Ghost (and specifically the Wraith which seems even more fitting). This segment's been a thing for a good while.
You can admit that you made your post in error. We all make mistakes.
Odd how the headline focuses on the C7 while the video hardly talks about the car. Why, Mr. Petrany?
The amount of stars your comment has versus FromCanadaWithLove's is inversely proportional with how correct you two are.
For reference: the Camaro's sales success. How it has consistently outsold the S197 Mustang is beyond me. Transformers did wonders for it, and apparently customers would rather drive a Bumblebee and overlook a pillbox roofline because it looks cool.
NO! Keep this tumblr shit away from Jalopnik. Dammit, must be Jezebel leaking. Some cars are feminine looking and some are masculine looking. That doesn't give them a fucking gender; it's just a simple description. A car with sharp breaks, straight lines, and a mean looking mug can be considered masculine. Just like…
She's playing the clueless victim card; her original post clearly had a condescending flavor to it.
So you're telling us that gender does not play any significant role in car sales? Some cars have completely disproportionate male-to-female consumer ratios. Why would that be if not for some buying preference that can be associated with a specific gender?
This looks like some bullshit that some teenager would break down into a bunch of shittier two-second, filtered-to-shit gifs and post on tumblr.
You found me! ;)
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT FOR WAY TOO LONG. We're getting antsy over at Mustang6G.
