I just started reading this one and, while I loved Relish, I feel like she has grown as an artist so much since that book. The poignancy of her passages on her miscarriages had me tearing up. Even though I’m only a quarter of the way in, I can’t imagine giving it less than five stars.

Hey Hannah. The Current is a CBC Radio program, not CBS. Thanks from Canada!

A friend and I were riding the rapid transit in our city and were going through the outer suburbs toward downtown. At one stop, two men got on, one being obviously high or intoxicated (this being a Saturday morning, it struck us as strange.) He started staring at us from across the car, swaying and muttering, with his

He also wrote in his most recent book about Laura giving birth to their first child and described the noises she made as “lowing” several times, as in the sounds a cow makes. At one point he went for a run and also tried to get her to chant with him? Yikes, no thanks.

She did get her start doing standup at Laugh Factory in LA. Everyone has off nights though.

Ahem, gal**
And I WISH I made that sweet PR money. Publishing is a pauper’s game.

Given the size and picture quality of a lot of seat-back entertainment systems, I often prefer to watch content on my phone (although that means sacrificing my ability to simultaneously play mindless games while “watching”) On my most recent travels, the inflight entertainment system was down and I merrily watched The

I worked for a whole Halloween season at my local amusement park as a scarer. While it was super fun (as an 18 year old theatre kid) Canadian Octobers are also SUPER cold so I often finished my shifts with no feeling in my toes. Plus they never wash those costumes and often they were smelly as hell.

I’m deep in the greys so I don’t know if this info will reach anyone but this dude definitely self-published. There was no “book-deal.” It was published by Izzard Ink, which is a fancy self-publishing outfit.

This movie is actually based on his book and there will be a movie tie-in edition!

It’s usually quiet on the 4th of July, which is an inconvenience to me, a Canadian who uses Jez to break up my work day. I’m bummed about the buyouts though :(

I work in publishing and bookselling. Let me tell you, these badass girl anthologies are the new adult colouring book. EVERY publisher has one, with its own twist.

My baby girl, Cora.

I have a sensitivity to metals that is very hit and miss too. I can wear nickel rings on my right hand, but wearing them on my left gives me a rash. Maybe it’s the same with your ears? Bodies are weird!

My community theatre experience was entirely contained north of the border, plus your comment history revealed a lot of car-talk on Jalopnik and my ex-passion-buddy hasn’t owned a car in years. I’m glad that Canada is managing to export our famous will-they-won’t-they couples to the South for profit, though!

I feel like you just spoke my truth, PedalHead. I actually had to check your comment history to make sure that you couldn’t possibly be a friend of mine that I had such a dynamic with for many years!

Being John Malkovitch? But that was pretty early in her career.

Wasn’t Frankie S5&6? S3&4 were the Effie years.

I hope you have a cool mil to drop on housing! I actually just left the city because I got priced out. It’s the sort of place that is easy to fall in love with but will never love you back.

It’s probably nicer now, but when I grew up there, it was very sketchy. There’s still a huge homeless problem in Whalley but other parts of the city have cleaned up.
