I don't know, all those games listed, MW2, GB, KZ2, RE2 are all good games. They all deserve some level of criticism, they weren't all perfect, but at the same time they weren't really "disappointments". There were genuinly bad games this year more deserving to be on this list.

@juriko: Epic owns the Gears IP, and if the reports are true then its only for the first two games.

@sixt9coug: Feel free to register your subjective aesthetic input with everybody else on the internet...

It looks like a serious pain to control that on the iPhone.

@pauljones: First the pricing should be considered complete speculation at this point, I'm sure Toyota and Subaru haven't settled on exact figure and trim at this point.

@zlarm: In Japan, Yakuza is big-name title, and Demon Soul was a cult-hit and strong-seller. Same goes for Shin Megami Tensei series. Final Fantasy since 12 has been more avante-garde (I got FF13 today so I'll see how that is). Final Fantasy Gaiden 4 warriors of Light is equally interesting and innovative.

@McNutsack: Er... I think you need to play those games I mentioned, in fact many them don't use 'numbers' system- certainly less so then Bioware games.

I think Greg Zeschuk is in the ignorant and narrow minded misconception that all jRPGs are linear DQ-esque games.

@RaginKaGin21: My point was he doesn't seem to be taking his Japanese appearance that seriously and handles it with some level of humor, but still manages to come off as a comic caricature of himself.

If you actually watch the full video he isn't a humorless prick as he presented here.

The thing about Flash social network games like Farmville is that a lot these browser based games use incredibly shady, and borderline illegal tactics as their business model. The normal 'selling software' business model is no longer functional.

@EolirinX: Right now, we're talking about why Western games don't sell in Japan, but what is really happening right now is Japanese devs are having to re-do their games stylistically to match North American/European cultural tastes.

@EolirinX: I think we need to come to terms with the fact that the world isn't culturally homogeneous. Different cultures have different tastes.

@Frederf: No, all racing sims aren't realistic when crashing a car is concerned.

@Frederf: All collisions aren't realistic in any game.
