I haven’t watched the special yet but I did watch the first season and while I liked it, and think the premise of the reboot is awesome, I really wish I had liked season 1 more. I feel like they are barely scratching the surface with some of their best characters (like the aunts, especially Zelda) and there was

That’s a pretty anodyne statement given the inherently subjective nature of the inquiry—ear of the beholder and all that (to very poorly paraphrase the aphorism about beauty). To say nothing of the fact that whether it is good or bad is wholly irrelevant to this particular piece of news.

Eh? Vanilla Ice settled with Queen/Bowie out of court and they got songwriting credit.

I just assumed that was like a sampling or homage I guess. I had no idea anyone actually sued because of it. Ya pretty insane that lawsuit didn’t win but this one did when the earlier 2 are exactly the same from what I recall.

You’re not going to hear Blurred Lines in the same places as Baby It’s Cold Outside. You barely hear blurred lines anywhere anymore, whereas you’ll hear baby it’s cold outside all over the place this Christmas and every Christmas in the future.

Baby it’s Cold Outside” is an interesting case study, as it has fostered some interesting discussions about consent, changing cultural morays, and how we choose to interpret art that hasn’t aged well. Regardless about how you fell about the song, these are good conversations. I for one feel like I’ve learned much

Poor Robin Thicke, struggling to make a name for himself for decades, and suddenly when he actually made it, the whole success destroyed his life, losing his wife, recognition and songs....

I’m pretty sure that there’s a huge overlap between people who think Baby It’s Cold Outside is problematic and people who think Blurred Lines is problematic. The difference between the two is that as a Christmas song, Baby It’s Cold Outside gets played regularly (at least during the holiday season each year), so it

This is terrible. The song is alright if you’re into it I guess, and Thicke is an idiot...but what the fuck? Half of a song’s revenue because it kinda lifted a beat? Every Cumbia and every Raggaeton song ever use the same beats, yet somehow the Latin music industry has thrived. This ruling is bullshit and bad for art.

Ugh, I’m no fan, but this just seems like a terrible decision. It’s not even as close as the Pressure/Ice Ice Baby rip-off (which the court decided wasn’t a rip-off! IIRC)! It always sounded more like an homage rather than straight plagiarism to me.

Make no mistake, Blurred Lines is a gross sexist song that I’m happy has been largely forgotten.

That poor child was supposed to be in Lourdes!

Much like the US government, the Catholic Church is gonna get its money.

I can’t wait for the Netflix movie on these two!

It was just fractions of pennies.

This is a Sister Act I’d like to meet on the 24-Hour Turn Around bus to Vegas! Literally the best nuns ever. I bet a dollar they are also girlfriends.

THE MONEY WAS JUST RESTING IN THAT ACCOUNT!

So, to review: Molest kids and you get moved, hidden, lied for, covered up, protected. For years. By everyone, all the way to the top.

When my grade 2 class went on a trip to the school library for the first time, the librarian asked if anyone in the class could do the splits. One girl could, and demonstrated for us. The librarian told us that leaving a book open and face down all day is the same as asking a person to do the splits all day. This was

I would murder him.
