Exactly. Season one was a bit clunky. Season two they embraced the What Would Monty Python Do? mantra. And they have become a million times better because of that.

The second season is a vast improvement on the first season for precisely the reasons you implied were problems - it’s distanced itself from being too dependent on moving the plot…
