Takács’ twitter talks more about why e didn’t just contact them by email about the error. I got the impression that there was a lot of issues and it was a last resort to get something done about it. Judging by the number of people coming forward, e doesn’t seem wrong.

I can’t say with certainty but it might be because they/their/them should really only be used to refer to multiple individuals or entities. I think the actual usage has changed, but you’re not supposed to use those terms when referring to a single person.

I was initially a little forgiving regarding their misgendering of Takács but then I looked at eir website and there’s LITERALLY a section discussing eir preferred pronouns. I mean...Shit. Takács even references the singular “they” as acceptable. I mean...at least pretend to try.
