My grandpa peeled onions and ate them like apples. He also refused Novocain at the dentist and got multiple fillings, root canals, etc. without so much as the topical anesthetic they typically rub on before giving you the Novocain shot.
My grandpa tried to pull his daughters from high school and wouldn’t send them to college because he didn’t think women needed to go to school. Crazy old gramps.

My grandpa owned his own business. Every day he shut it down for an hour so he could watch Sesame Street over lunch in the breakroom. He made everyone who worked for him (about a dozen people) join him. You had to have a pretty good excuse to not watch Sesame Street with him.
My paternal grandparents caught the boat from Ireland. Dirt poor, married, 6 kids, worked blue collar jobs to put his kids through Catholic schools until HS graduation, worked in an auto plant in Detroit and bought a farm that he’d work before and after work at the plant.
