My macbook Pro has 16GB and Chrome is using 1GB of it. I made sure to get the max RAM when I found out I couldn't upgrade later.

I too sleep with white noise which is a small air purifier next to my bed. I even recorded my bathroom fan on my phone and play it when I sleep somewhere else. White noise helps me stay asleep immensely.
