It seems to be to US Soccer.

I think it’s at least fair to argue whether there is a qualitative difference between protesting during the anthem when playing for your club team and protesting during the anthem while playing for your national team.

A small but important detail evident in the replay is the ball placement on the throw. It was a fine pass, but Williams has to turn back to the inside to make the catch, which complicates the entire picture because he has to come to almost a complete stop to execute a change of direction (either in or out) upon

It’s prohibited by rule in the final minute of a half. (4-7-1). Five yard penalty, 10-second runoff and clock starts when ball is ready for play.

I don’t disagree with the statement that there is delusion amongst some fans, but there’s a substantial gap between minnow and “a few worldies away” and I think the US clearly falls somewhere in that range. Truth be told there are precious few national teams that can compete to actually win the Cup on a consistent

I was shocked to learn he didn’t already have a helicopter.

August 10? I guess it really does slow your reaction time.

Is everyone there deaf?

From the looks of the photo it’s probably closer to 8.65/10.

Stupid engineering question here, but isn’t that roof design vastly more likely to leak/fail than something with far fewer joints and moving parts? Or does all that take a back seat to ‘cool’ and aesthetics?

That is a wonderful, disheartening, spot-on turn-of-phrase.

Not to mention that fact that the question implies that 1986 is part of the acting Dark Ages. Virtually every older actor in Hollywood today was already an established actor way back then, so it’s not like we’re even comparing two different sets of individual actors.

He was so good at raising awareness that it took 3 games of sitting out the anthem before anybody noticed.

I started whistling the tune of “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” on the way over a few years ago when we hit some moderate chop about 90 minutes out of Copper Harbor. The lady sitting near us was not amused.

The Packers were perfectly fine with letting Hayward go because they feel they have tremendous depth in their secondary. The paragraph would have been better used to explore how a team with Aaron Rodgers at QB for all 16 games finished tied for 25th in passing offense last season.

The BBC guys (maybe because Johnson was there) certainly knew what was happening when it was happening, but I get the impression that NBC didn’t realize what was happening until it was well over. And then with the 100 hot on its heels, they never took an opportunity to highlight just how big a deal this is.

Had to take a couple stabs at this before I caught on.

My uncle used to do this for the East German women.

Back in the 80s, when high schools still had gym class, we got to play “team handball” in the winter months. It was indeed the shit. Our teacher told us that Yugoslavia was good at it, and the US was no good at it, but we should.
