Well rx 480 in dx12 is on par or faster then 980, they introduced it as 970 to 980 card. While falls 9-10% short in dx11, if they had the card with lower voltage it would have fared better, but I think the glofo 14nm has some yield issues and they put the voltage higher then in their internal tests. Blower has it’s place no doubt. Still weaker cooler then most aftermarket does not mean bad. Your idea is to watercool which is nice idea. I’ve never had a card with coil whine. So no idea how annoying it could be. Also many custom cards use reference board they are just cheaper.

How is 249/299 cheaper then 199/239? Reason why rx 480 has had hard time reaching that is because the reference cooler cannot keep the clocks up. It is as fast as 980 if you set power target to 50% and even undervolt the card.

Of course they put reference. But then again before reference was the baseline price the basic. And it still is basic but with premium price. I get that some people want to be early adopters and end up paying that 300$+ for the FE. If custom boards are out the same day then the FE makes even less sense tho.

Just remember to inform that the founders edition is the basic reference card. The custom ones later on that cost less will be of better quality. Premium components pfft.

You know hitman on 1440p should for you run @ average 81 frames per second. Or @ 1080p 100+. It runs on Fury X the old card roughly 70 fps average and on 980 ti a tad under 60. So it should run decently when playing on dx12.

W10 is the most used os by games on steam with 40%. No wonder it is the best windows for gaming. Had 0 issues with it on 5 different machines.
