What I mean is no online game is a permanent fixture. The main difference is one is limited by design, and the other is limited by diminished popularity & cost/profit of servers.

For all intents and practical purposes it’s similar enough in the sense that no online game is permanent, whether it’s by design or by dwindling popularity. But, if the game is popular right up until its ‘expiration,’ that is certainly different, I agree.
