Danganronpa is awesome, play that first. X-2 will wait for you. If you enjoy Danganronpa as well, look into Virtue's Last Reward.

It was a tough plat, congrats, I got it awhile back... I'm trudging through X-2 but never quite enjoyed it that much... Danganronpa is distracting me too.

I wouldn't classify DQIX as being old, it's the most recent DQ game North America got.

Haha... I replayed it two months back waiting for Lightning Returns and the FFX HD remaster. I didn't do the Ozma quest this time, even though I did do all the chocobo legwork.
