Yeah, I was laid up in bed on painkillers (C-section) so those first two days, my husband was solely responsible for diapering and soothing. Also, whatever hormones that are triggered by mom holding the new baby were going overdrive for me, because every time I held the little guy I pretty much immediately fell

I mean, I kind of expect it in other forums (comments to news articles) so I just kind of white-noise it mentally. But it's disappointing to see that sort of thing here.

I wish I could star this a hundred times.

RAGE. SO MUCH RAGE.

OMG I LAUGHED SO HARD AT THIS

Yep. If "going vegetarian" means your diet goes from being meat-based to fake-meat-and-carbs based, it probably isn't going to be a whole lot healthier than just eating some lean protein.

God, all the arguments between the Paleo vs Veg*ans on food posts. Obnoxious people are obnoxious. But (IME anyway) it's MUCH more likely that some Paleo champion is going to crash a vegetarian's post about how they're all probably protein- and B12-deficient than the opposite.

Go to any Buzzfeed article about veg*an dishes and read the comment section.

That's what I came here to say. Eating healthy/eating vegetables is considered a feminine thing (salads are girly, steaks are manly). So while equating "meat culture" with the patriarchy is silly, I would say that our attitudes towards meat vs vegetarians are a byproduct of it.

I would just start making shit up. "Oh yeah I've been shotgunning beer up my asshole all morning! What? This is just what we DO nowadays! YOLO!"

Oh my God, I can't watch the video bc I'm at work but the snippets I'm getting from the comments have me doubled over. FLASHING A FOX NEWS CAMERA. THAT'S AMAZING.

The "Well there are only (number) of us standing here!" bit (or the exaggerated looking around as if looking for other people) used to piss me off so much as a hostess. Yes, asshole, I can count - but I want to make sure no one else is joining you, or if someone's parking the car, or whatever else.

Yep. Meanwhile the next table over is completely out of sweet tea and boring holes in the back of your head.

Um, I'm not talking about banning the vaccine. I just think that mandates for vaccinations should be used with caution.

Well sure, that's an easy one. But the question is, what is best for the kid's health? And I'm not convinced that government mandates for vaccines would take away a layer of accountability on behalf of the pharmaceutical companies. Something that's been around for awhile with no ill-effects, preventing against a

That's a really hard one. I'm not sure where I come down on that.

You sound a lot like me. When I found out I was pregnant (six months along when I found out, completely unexpected - long story), I told everyone at my high-stress, high-demand, male-dominated job that I would be right back in the trenches when I returned.

From her paragraph right before that line:

I'm at work now, so don't have as much time - this was several years ago (seven? I think?). I did a whole write-up on a blog I had at the time, but I've shut it down since.

I wish we lived in a world in which it was the law to vaccinate, because we wouldn't see the numbers of infants dying of pertussis and measles.
